Postponed start

Its hard to imagine how frustrating that can be.

For some the Transat is all that they have focused on for months, even years. That one start date the hard work, the money it is your centre of attention and then just as you get there, the weather gets in the way and its all delayed!!! Your friends, your relatives they have all taken time off to come and see you start, they have flights, ferries, work to get back to so they miss the start, and you are left alone, all the jobs are done and you are ready to race, what do you do!!!!!!!

I know for me in 2009 the start was just amazing, it was probably in some respects one of the hugest adrenaline rushes I have ever had, for so many years I had wanted to do the race and then the opportunity presented itself, it so totally dominated everything I did for a year and a half before the race it is hard to imagine what it would have felt like to have suddenly been told no you can't go you have to wait, for a day, a week who knows!!!!

But above all no matter how frustrating it is, safety is more important, nothing is achieved by starting and breaking the boat or worse somebody getting hurt!!!

Hopefully the weather will improve soon and you will all get away, see you all in Lanzarotte!!!
